SEO Expert Interview: Alexander Paull on Trends, Challenges, and the Future of SEO

In the ever-evolving world of digital marketing, SEO remains a cornerstone for businesses looking to enhance their online presence. To gain deeper insights into the field, we sat down with Alexander Paull, an SEO Consultant at Yuri & Neil, to discuss his journey, industry trends, and expert recommendations. With a diverse background in journalism, content strategy, and media intelligence, Alexander brings a unique perspective to search engine optimization.

Can you explain what SEO is and why it is important for websites?

SEO is a marketing strategy that aims to make your website compliant with Google and other search engines’ rules in order to help your website’s pages be promoted in search engine results pages (SERPs).

The visibility of your website and pages in search engines depends on three main elements: technical structure, content (semantic relevance), and popularity (backlinks and authority). SEO experts provide strategies that optimize each of these elements to improve search rankings and overall visibility.

How did you get started with your career in SEO, and what motivated you to pursue this field?

At one point, I was looking into moving towards digital and content strategy positions. I quickly understood that I was going to need digital marketing training. Then, further in my research, SEO appeared as an expertise that had a lot to do with content strategy. The job seemed really interesting, and I noticed there were a large number of job offers on job platforms. My curiosity grew from there, as did my motivation to do my best to become an SEO expert with a job.

What has been the most rewarding experience in your SEO career so far?

To feel that clients are 100% convinced by your analysis and that they share your vision of what the website should do better and how to get there.

What are some of the biggest changes you’ve seen in the SEO industry during your career?

Without a doubt, artificial intelligence, as both a tool and a new feature in Google search results pages.

How do you stay updated with the latest trends and changes in SEO?

I try to keep an eye on SEO news and follow what influential SEOs have to say about what’s happening.

What are your thoughts on the current state of SEO?

I feel the job will have to adapt to AI and how it might change Google search pages and the way people search for information on the web. Nevertheless, healthy websites, useful content, and popularity will still be key elements of any website’s visibility for many years to come.

In your opinion, what are the most common misconceptions about SEO?

That you will rank on a subject just by creating a new page. It’s much more complicated than that, and Google’s algorithm is much more advanced and intelligent than most people assume.

How do you see the role of SEO evolving in the next few years?

No major changes—SEO will always be about understanding what Google wants and creating strategies to help clients gain visibility and legitimacy on the web.

How important do you think it is for businesses to invest in SEO compared to other digital marketing strategies?

In my opinion, it’s very important because SEO, when successful, guarantees long-term organic traffic on many different topics. It’s a long-term investment.
